Dr. Basaula is experienced in practicing medicine coming from a multinational and multicultural
background. After he graduated from medical school, in addition to practicing medicine, he has
participated in various volunteer activities. He worked as a co-director of rural telemedicine and was
a founder of a non-profit organization to provide healthcare and support to needy population in rural
parts of Nepal. He helped provide medical services to the affected area of Nepal during the 2015
earthquake. He enjoys teaching from his extensive knowledge, but also loves being able to learn new
things as well. He thoroughly enjoyed teaching medical students and junior residents during residency
training and is excited to continue the same at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport. His goal is to continue
practicing medicine to help medically underserved populations. He is a member of the American
College of Physicians and Massachusetts Medical Society. He likes to spend his leisure time traveling
and spending time with his wife.
