Our pediatric team members are trained and experienced in health problems specific to children, from birth through adolescence. We provide advanced care for infants, children and teens who need the highest levels of support, such as:

  • Extracorporeal life support (ECLS) with pediatrically trained doctors
  • Level II nursery
  • Level II pediatric intensive care unit (PICU)
  • Level II pediatric trauma center
  • Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), including NICU transport

Our partnership with LSU Health allows us to maximize patient volumes while providing family-centered, high-quality care to northwest Louisiana and the surrounding Ark-La-Tex area. We see children and teens (under age 18) at both our Internal Medicine and Pediatrics location and our Women’s and Children’s Center. In Monroe, our pediatric team accepts patients at the Monroe Medical Center.

The ELSO Award for Excellence in Life Support

The Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO) Award for Excellence in Life Support recognizes life-support programs worldwide that distinguish themselves by having processes, procedures and systems in place that promote excellence and exceptional care. Our pediatric program was recognized as an ELSO Gold Level Center of Excellence in 2018 for our commitment to quality critical care.

First LERN Recognized Pediatric Trauma Program in Louisiana

The Louisiana Emergency Response Network (LERN) recognized Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport as a Pediatric Level II Trauma Program on July 1, 2019 making it the first and only program in Louisiana to receive the Pediatric Trauma Program recognition.

LERN assists EMS providers and hospitals throughout North Louisiana in transporting injured children, and the Pediatric Trauma Program reinforces the highly specialized trauma care provided at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport – Academic Medical Center.

Tiniest Babies Registry
