Notice to Ochsner LSU Health - Regional Urology Patients

Ochsner LSU Health - Regional Urology is notifying patients of a recent data security incident that involved patient information.

On October 10, 2025, we identified unusual activity affecting retired Regional Urology systems, which had not been in use since 2022. We immediately took steps to contain the incident and began an investigation with support from external cybersecurity experts. We also reported the incident to law enforcement. The investigation determined that an unauthorized third-party gained access to the legacy systems and, on or about October 5, 2025, obtained copies of certain files. The information involved varies by patient, but may include name, Social Security number, date of birth, medical record number, and information related to care received at Regional Urology prior to December 31, 2022, such as provider name, date(s) of treatment, medical history, imaging or procedure information.

Regional Urology’s electronic medical record system and current IT systems were not involved in this incident, and it did not cause any disruption to clinical operations. No other Ochsner LSU Health System or Ochsner Health locations were impacted.

We are mailing letters to patients whose information was involved in this incident and offering complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services to individuals whose Social Security number was included. Patients are also encouraged to review statements they receive from their healthcare providers and immediately report any inaccuracies to the provider.

We are continuously updating and enhancing our systems to protect the data we maintain and to help prevent events such as this from occurring in the future.
