Ameya Ajit Asarkar, MBBS

Ameya Asarkar, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Otorhinolarnygology at LSU Health Shreveport. His clinical focus is on the treatment of patients with head and neck cancer, diseases of the salivary glands, and thyroid/parathyroid disease, with a particular interest in transoral robotic surgery. Dr. Asarkar received his medical degree at Shri Bhausaheb Hire Government Medical College, Dhule, India in 2007. In 2012, he completed a residency in Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery at Sanjeevan Medical Foundation ENT Post Graduate Institute, Miraj, India. In 2016, he completed a fellowship in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology at the Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, India. He also complete a fellowship in Head and Neck surgical oncology at LSU Health Shreveport in 2018. Currently, Dr. Asarkar’s research interests include clinical outcomes in head and neck cancer patients, and thyroid diseases focusing on cost effectiveness of treatment strategies. His previous research work on a range of topics has been published in many peer-reviewed journals, and has been presented nationally and internationally. He serves as a reviewer on multiple national peer-reviewed journals. He is a member of numerous professional societies, including the American Head and Neck Society, the American College of Surgeons, the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Federation of Head and Neck Oncology and Asia Pacific Society of Thyroid surgeons. He serves as the committee member of the salivary gland service and the clinical research and position statements committees of the American Head and Neck Society.
