Dr. Ammar Husan is a board-certified family physician, who prides himself on practicing full spectrum, comprehensive family medicine, focusing not only on the science of medicine, but also fostering the art of healing both mentally as well as physically. He is passionate about teaching medical students and residents in the inpatient as well as the outpatient clinic setting. His motto is “A good physician treats the disease. A great physician treats the patient who has the disease”- Sir William Osler Dr. Husan attended Stonybrook University where he earned both a Biology and Biomedical Engineering degree with honors. He completed his medical school education at Medical University of the Americas in St. Kitts and Nevis, while simultaneously completing an MBA in healthcare management. Dr. Husan completed his Family Medicine residency at LSU Health Shreveport's Family Medicine Program, and subsequently joined as one of the members of the faculty. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine as well as a Fellow in the American Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Husan is a member of the Louisiana State Medical Society, the American Medical Association and the Obesity Medicine Association. He has conducted extensive NIH and DOD funded research in Traumatic brain injury. In his free-time he enjoys playing tennis, working on automobiles, and cooking. He also enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife and two young children.
