He was born in Lake Charles, LA. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA, where he graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences. He obtained his medical degree from LSU Health Shreveport School of Medicine before completing his surgical training in New Orleans, LA. He completed General Surgery residency at Ochsner Medical Center where he served as the Administrative Chief Resident and was honored as the Outstanding Chief Resident Teacher of the Year before completing clinical fellowship in Trauma Surgery and Surgical Critical Care with LSU Health New Orleans at the Norman E. McSwain Spirit of Charity Level 1 Trauma Center.His professional interests include violence prevention, ballistics in penetrating trauma, and surgical education. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, sports, animal rescue, and spending time with his wife and pets.Dr. Chapman is board certified by the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery and in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. He is a member of numerous medical organizations including the American College of Surgeons, the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma, and the Chest Wall Injury Society.
