Dr. David Lewis was born in Shreveport, Louisiana and is a graduate of Louisiana State University, Shreveport. He obtained his medical degree at Louisiana State University Health Shreveport School of Medicine in Shreveport. Dr. Lewis did his residency and OB/GYN internship at Louisiana State University Medical Center. He then completed a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal medicine at the University of California, Irvine. Dr. Lewis obtained his master of Business Administration degree at the University of Kentucky.
Dr. Lewis is an established and highly skilled physician with over twenty-seven years' experience in obstetrics and gynecology, with special interest in the practice of maternal-fetal medicine. He is well regarded in his field. Dr. Lewis has served as Professor and Chair of the Department of Obstetrics / Gynecology at Louisiana State University Health Shreveport since September 2016. He was appointed to serve as the Vice-Chancellor for Clinical Affairs at Louisiana State University Health Shreveport in October 2017 where he served until his appointment as Dean of the Medical School in June 2018.
Dr. Lewis is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology. He is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology. Dr. Lewis is board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology as well as Maternal-Fetal Medicine subspecialty.
