Dr. Bhusal was born and raised in Nepal. He completed medical school at Tribhuvan University, Institute of Medicine Maharajgunj Campus, Kathmandu, in 2002. Afterwards he joined Kathmandu Medical College, a private medical school in Kathmandu, and worked as an instructor. He then moved to the United States for advanced training.
He completed Residency training in Internal Medicine from Wyckoff Heights Medical Center (an affiliate of Weill Medical College of Cornell University), Brooklyn, New York in 2008. He was selected as the best Resident Of The Year 2008 and received the award for highest score on the In-Training Exam in 2008. He then joined LSU Health Shreveport as Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine, a position he held for 6 years.
He began formal training in the Endocrinology and Metabolism Fellowship in July of 2014 and completed in June 2016. After completing fellowship, he rejoined the faculty of LSU Health Shreveport. Currently he is Associate Program Director for the Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism Fellowship program. He is a member of Endocrine Society, The American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, American Thyroid Association, and Obesity Medicine. He also serves on the Diabetes Advisory Board for Martin Luther King Clinics, Shreveport - an ADA recognized center.
