Dr. LaTashia Upton, a Shreveport native, earned her Medical Doctorate for LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport. Once Dr. Upton finished her residency at LSUHSC as chief resident, she started her private practice in Minden, Louisiana. Dr. Upton has been with Ochsner LSU Health's OBGYN department since 2017 and now serves as the Chief Medical Officer at St. Mary Medical Center. She has received several awards for her accomplishments like the James A. Truly, MD Award for Compassionate and Thorough Gynecological Care and the Excellence in CREOG Award. Dr. Upton is a member of American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, American Medical Association and Louisiana Medical Society and American Chemical Society. Dr. Upton’s interest in OBGYN is to education about women’s health. She is genuinely committed to encouraging her patients to live a healthy lifestyle at all stages of their lives and emphasizing the importance of preventative care. Outside of work, Dr. Upton enjoys reading, cooking, and volunteering.
