Menchu De Guzman Ong, MD

["Dr. Menchu Ong completed two residencies in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. The first was at the Philippine Heart Center for Asia in 1995 and the second was at the University of Illinois in Chicago in 2005. After her second residency training, she did fellowships in Cytopathology, Pediatric Pathology and Blood Banking and Transfusion Medicine. She is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and in Blood Banking\/Transfusion Medicine. She joined the faculty at LSUHS in 2008 as assistant professor of Pathology and Translational Pathobiology. Since that time she has served as an Attending Pathologist in Clinical Pathology and Medical Director of Transfusion Services. She participates in the teaching of medical students, pathology residents, house staff and allied health students","supervises the medical aspects of therapeutic apheresis\/phlebotomy procedures, conducts research activities and publish in peer-reviewed journals, participates in the diagnostic work of Clinical Pathology\/Hematopathology including bone marrows, lymph nodes, flow cytometry, coagulation and special chemistry and in Anatomic Pathology subspecialty sign-out. She has been awarded the Albert G. Smith Faculty award for excellence in teaching for the 2010-2011 and 2016-2017 academic years. Her husband, Ignacio Maria Ong and I reside in Shreveport and have three children, Josefa Mencia, Don Gerome and Maria Paulita."]
