Perry Scott Barrilleaux, MD

Dr. Barrilleaux is a Louisiana native, born in Franklin and is a graduate of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. He obtained his medical degree in Shreveport at LSU Medical Center. He also completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at LSU Medical Center. He then completed a three-year fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi.Dr. Barrilleaux then returned to South Louisiana and practiced in one of the last two remaining private Maternal Fetal Medicine practices in Louisiana in Lafayette. He was the founding partner of Acadiana Maternal-Fetal Medicine and practiced there serving Acadiana and the Alexandria area for nearly 20 years. He has many special interests in medicine which include behavioral health in pregnancy, prenatal diagnosis and education.In addition to his medical practice, Dr. Barrilleaux has served on many committees, advisory panels and as Medical Director of Perinatal Services for three hospitals. He currently serves as the Chairman of the governor appointed Louisiana Commission on Perinatal Care and Prevention of Infant Mortality with numerous good people trying to advance healthcare in Louisiana. He is boarded in Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as Maternal-Fetal Medicine and is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine as well as other professional organizations.Dr. Barrilleaux has one son and two daughters and he and his wife, Kristin, love their acreage and reside in Stonewall. They have dogs, cats, goats and chickens. His favorite time is spent with his wife and children. He loves the outdoors and has a love of blacksmithing.He considers is an honor and a blessing to be given the opportunity to return to his home institution where he trained and “give back” to the patients of the area, the Medical Center and those that trained him."I love Maternal-Fetal Medicine because it combines so many aspects and specialties of medicine and it involves the absolute most important thing to anyone…their child.
