Dr. Peter Seidenberg is a Family Medicine physician at Ochsner LSU Health. He has been Professor and Chair of Family Medicine at LSU Health Shreveport since May 2020. He was born in Brooklyn, NY and grew up in Manalapan, NJ. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Biology from King's College, in Wilkes-Barre, PA. He completed his medical degree at Milton S. Hershey Penn State College of Medicine and his family medicine internship and residency at the Scott Air Force Base - St. Louis University Family Medicine Residency Program. He accomplished his sports medicine training with the National Capital Consortium with Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences. He is a 13-year Air Force veteran who has served stateside, in Latin America, and the Middle East. He is board certified in family medicine and primary care sports medicine and is a registered musculoskeletal ultrasonographer. He also has a Master’s in Organizational Leadership from Crown College in Saint Bonifacius, MN and completed the LEADS (Leadership Education for Academic Development and Success) Fellowship through the Association of Departments of Family Medicine.

During his Air Force career, he was faculty for three family medicine residencies and created St. Louis University's Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship Program. Shortly after leaving the Air Force, Dr. Seidenberg opened a clinic in rural Pennsylvania where he practiced family medicine, sports medicine, and occupational medicine in the outpatient, inpatient, and nursing home settings. He also served as faculty for the Commonwealth Medical College and the Kings College Physician Assistant Program. Five years later, he returned to full time academics with Penn State University, where he was a Professor of Family Medicine and Orthopaedics, sports medicine fellowship director, and founding director of the quality and research curricula for the family medicine residency. During his eight years at Penn State, he was team physician for the football, softball, gymnastics, fencing, rugby, ice hockey, field hockey, and baseball programs.

Dr. Seidenberg is internationally known for sports medicine especially in the areas of concussion, injury prevention, and the care of individuals with intellectual disabilities. He has edited three textbooks and has over 75 publications to his credit. He has worked with Special Olympics International (SOI) for over 20 years, is a member of the Global Medical Advisory Committee for SOI, and had the honor to serve as the Chief Medical Officer for the 2019 Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. His additional area of expertise is fostering research in family medicine departments and residencies. This led to his invitation to join the Building Research Capacity (BRC) group, where he provides consultations to family medicine departments, leads workshops at conferences, and co-chairs the assessment and evaluation committee.

He is married to his college sweetheart, Jennifer, who is a pediatrician. They have four beautiful children and grandchildren. His personal passions include his family, medical mission work, Special Olympics, music (bass guitar), and working out. Pete and Jen are excited to be back in the South and are honored to call Shreveport home.

4.9/5
70 Ratings 13 Comments

To obtain patient ratings and comments, we partner with Press Ganey, an independent patient satisfaction company that works with more than 26,000 healthcare organizations to improve the patient experience. These patient verified ratings are based on the “likelihood to recommend” physician scores on the nationally developed CAHPS Clinician & Group Survey (CG-CAHPS). Actual top box results for this question are translated to a 1-5 scale, and the star scores are measured on that scale, with 5 being the best score.
