Shane Barton, MD, a native of East Texas, graduated as a Presidential Endowed Scholar from Texas A&amp","amp\",\"M University, working as a computer engineer with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) at Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. At NASA, he was awarded multiple research honors for his work in robotic vision and image processing. He then attended medical school at Baylor College of Medicine, graduating with Honors as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He then went on to the Harvard Medical School-Massachusetts General Hospital where he finished his fellowship training in Shoulder and Sports Medicine in 2005, serving as the assistant team physician for the New England Patriots. He served as a graduate clinical instructor at Harvard Medical School.\\n \\nDr. Barton has been on staff at LSU Health Shreveport, in Shreveport, Louisiana, since 2005, and was the Medical Director of Sports Medicine for the Willis Knighton Health System for over 11 years. He is now the Thomas Norris, MD, Endowed Professor and Chairman, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at LSU Health Shreveport. He is the Chief of the Shoulder, Elbow, and Sports Medicine Division of the Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport Medical Center. He has over 100 podium and poster presentations, abstracts, peer-reviewed publications, and book chapters. He has lectured locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally.\\n \\nDr. Barton specializes in the treatment of pediatric and adult sports-related injuries, as well as complex shoulder, elbow, and knee joint reconstruction procedures. He serves as the head team physician for numerous local and regional high schools, colleges, professional teams, and Olympic sports. He has received numerous teaching awards over his career. He serves on many local, regional, national, and international committees, advancing the fields of medical education and Orthopaedic Surgery. He is the current president of the Louisiana Orthopaedic Association. Dr. Barton has been elected to membership into the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons society and American Orthopaedic Association, recognizing orthopaedic surgeons demonstrating leadership in Orthopaedic Surgery education. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, with additional board certification in Sports Medicine.\"]"]
