Dr. Wangjam earned her medical degree from the University of Delhi- Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi, India. She completed her Internal Medicine Internship and Residency at Johns Hopkins University- Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, MD. Subsequently, she completed her Fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at University of Texas Health San Antonio MD Anderson Cancer Center, TX. She also finished Advanced Fellowship training in Blood and Marrow Transplantation/ Cellular Therapy at Stanford University School of Medicine, CA.Dr. Wangjam joined the Hematology-Oncology Faculty at Feist Weiller Cancer Center in late 2019. As the Program Director of the Leukemia/ BMT Program, she has worked with her multi-disciplinary team to resume Autologous Stem Cell Transplant services in Northwest Louisiana, with ongoing efforts to expand services to include Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplant and Immune Effector Cell Therapy (eg. CAR-T cell therapy). Her clinical and research interests are in the treatment of Hematologic disorders and cancers with Chemo-immunotherapy, Stem Cell Transplant, and other Cellular Therapy modalities.In addition to her role in the clinical program, she is active in the training of Medical Students, Residents, Hematology-Oncology Fellows, BMT staff, as well as in Clinical Research. She is the site Principal Investigator for several clinical trials for patients with blood cancers or patients undergoing stem cell transplant.Dr. Wangjam believes in shared decision making with her patients and care of the patient as a whole individual. When is doubt, her guiding principle is the self-query, “What would I choose for my most beloved person, if they were in this clinical scenario?”.She is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology. She is active in several institutional and national society committees involved in promoting improved quality and access to cancer.
