Dr. Brar graduated from Government Medical College and Hospital in Chandigarh, India. He trained as an Internal Medicine resident at MedStar Georgetown University – Washington Hospital Center. He then stayed on to complete his Cardiology and Clinical cardiac electrophysiology Fellowship at MedStar Georgetown University – Washington Hospital Center. As a cardiac electrophysiologist, Dr. Brar specializes in heart rhythm disorders. These conditions include atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), ventricular tachycardia/fibrillation (VT/VF), atrioventricular block (AV or complete heart block), sinus node dysfunction, WPW syndrome, and syncope, among others. Dr. Brar’s treatment approach is a patient-focused comprehensive approach from prevention, risk factor modification, pharmacological therapy, and interventional procedures. Dr. Brar performs a broad range of procedures including catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, ventricular tachycardia, and SVT. He implants permanent pacemakers and defibrillators, as well as cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) devices to treat congestive heart failure. He is also an expert in laser lead extraction, a procedure that involves removing old pacemaker or defibrillator leads using laser technology.
