No-Cost Men's Health Lunch and Learn Comes to Monroe Sept. 11

MONROE, La. – Ochsner LSU Health Monroe will host the Men’s Health Lunch and Learn in partnership with the Mu Tau Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated and Johnson and Johnson on Friday, Sept. 11, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. This no-cost event aims to promote men’s health and wellness, the benefits of preventative care and the importance of regular health screenings. A major focus will be prostate cancer awareness and education during Prostate Cancer Awareness Month 

 “At Ochsner LSU Health Monroe, our commitment to this community extends beyond caring for people when they are sick — it includes helping our neighbors take proactive steps to protect their health,” said Michael O’Neal, MD, CEO of Ochsner LSU Health Monroe. “Preventive care and regular screenings can make a meaningful difference in detecting health concerns early, improving outcomes and supporting healthier families across Northeast Louisiana. We are proud to partner with organizations that share our dedication to expanding access to important health education and resources.” 

 The event emphasizes community health and wellness during prostate cancer awareness month and advances a core mission to improve healthcare access and health outcomes. 

 Our chapter of Omega Psi Phi is pleased to partner with Ochsner LSU Health – Monroe. Healthcare for families and especially men is a priority of our membership,” said Kento Aubrey, President of the Mu Tau Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated. “Bring your brother, your son, your nephew, your friend. Take this opportunity to learn essential information about how to stay healthy for yourself and your family.” 

 The Men’s Health Lunch and Learn will feature a conversation with Ochsner LSU Health Monroe family medicine physician, Dr. Cory Fernandes, and Kento Aubrey, President of the Mu Tau Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated. The following health screenings will also be offered starting an hour prior to the event:  

  • Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) screenings

  •  A1C 

The lunch and learn will be held at Ochsner LSU Health – Monroe Medical Center, 4864 Jackson St. in Monroe. Registration is encouraged by utilizing this form.
