SHREVEPORT, La. – Ochsner LSU Health is pleased to welcome board-certified breast surgeon Christopher Sockrider, MD, to its team, expanding access to specialized breast care for patients across North Louisiana.  

Dr. Sockrider, a Shreveport native, specializes in the evaluation and surgical management of breast disease and breast cancer. He provides comprehensive breast surgery services, including needle biopsy, lumpectomy, mastectomy and lymph node surgery. He also has advanced training and experience in breast ultrasound, minimally invasive biopsy techniques and the placement of partial breast irradiation devices.  

“I believe strong physician-patient relationships are at the heart of quality care,” said Christopher Sockrider, MD. “My goal is to provide compassionate, personalized treatment while helping patients feel informed and supported throughout every step of their care journey.”  

Dr. Sockrider earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University Medical Center in Shreveport in 1997 and completed a six-year surgical residency at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center Shreveport in 2003. He is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, Louisiana State Medical Society and Northwest Louisiana Medical Society.  

Having practiced exclusively in breast surgery since 2006, Dr. Sockrider brings nearly two decades of experience caring for patients with breast disease and breast cancer. He joined Ochsner LSU Health in October 2026 and is committed to delivering high-quality, surgical care while addressing each patient's individual concerns and goals.
