David Thomas Price, MD

Dr. David Price was born and reared in Minden, LA where he graduated from Glenbrook High School, and then attended Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BS in Zoology. He then attended LSU Health Shreveport where he was the recipient of the George D. Stewart Award for Excellence in the Study of Human Anatomy and graduated Alpha Omega Alpha in the class of 1989. Dr. Price then completed his residency in Urology and fellowship in Urological Oncology at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. While at Duke, Dr. Price was the recipient of the Urology Resident Award, Pfizer Scholar Award, American Foundation of Urological Disease Scholar Award, CapCure Prostate Cancer Young Investigator Award, and an NIH K08 Career Development Award. Dr. Price was also an early pioneer in laparoscopic radical prostatectomy where he authored the first paper describing the laparoscopic prostatectomy in an animal model and he assisted on some of the first human procedures. Dr. Price was also a research fellow in the laboratory of Robert Lefkowitz (2012-Nobel Laureate) where he studied adrenergic receptor subtypes in the prostate.

Dr. Price entered the private sector in 2000 where he has remained for the last 22 years. While in private practice Dr. Price was also one of the early adapters for robotic surgery, and in 2003 he co-founded (with Dr. T. Palmer) the first Robotic Surgery Program in the Ark-La-Tex at St. Mary’s Hospital and has since performed over 1300 complex robotic procedures. He currently has research interests in translational sciences and clinical research trials.

Dr. Price is Board Certified by The American Board of Urologists, and he is a member of the American Urological Association, Society of Urological Oncology, and Society of Robotic Surgeons. He has authored many abstracts, publications, and book chapters, and he has presented at regional, national, and international meetings.

Dr. Price is married to Tina Price, a urology nurse practitioner, who assists him with complex robotic surgical procedures. When not at work, Dr. Price enjoys spending time with his family at their farm in Texas where he enjoys hunting, fishing, running heavy equipment, woodworking, metal working, gardening, and a slew of other hobbies. His current most enjoyable hobby though is riding around the farm with his grandson Lincoln.
