Hidehiro Takei, MD, is a professor of Pathology and Translational Pathobiology and the Director of Anatomic Pathology. Dr. Takei is a both US and Japanese trained pathologist with specific expertise and board certification in the areas of cytopathology, neuropathology, and molecular genetic pathology. Prior to coming to LSU Health Shreveport, Dr Takei served as a Chairman and Director of Anatomic Pathology at Asahikawa Medical University Hospital, Japan for 5 years.Dr. Takei completed medical school at National Defense Medical College in Japan. His residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and fellowship in Cytopathology were done at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. He also completed fellowships in Texas for Neuropathology at Baylor College of Medicine and Molecular Genetic Pathology at Houston Methodist Hospital.Dr. Takei's area of expertise includes these procedures:Pathologic diagnosis based on light microscopy, histochemistry, immunohistochemistry, and electron microscopy analysis.
Molecular diagnosis of neoplasm, infectious diseases and inherited conditions.
Dr. Takei is an academically oriented pathologist, and has published over 120 papers in peer reviewed journals and presented more than 200 abstracts at national and international scientific meetings. He also published one brain tumor textbook and more than 30 book chapters.
