New grade for spring 2026 is a national recognition for commitment to patient safety

MONROE, La. – Showcasing dedication to excellence and patient safety, Ochsner LSU Health – Monroe Medical Center earned its third straight ‘A’ hospital safety grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit organization. Leapfrog assigns grades to hospitals across the country using evidence-based measures of patient safety focused exclusively on preventable errors, accidents, injuries and infections.

"This achievement showcases the commitment, expertise and collaboration of the entire team at Monroe Medical Center," said Mark Randolph, chief executive officer of Ochsner LSU Health Monroe. "Receiving an 'A' grade underscores our dedication to delivering safe, high-quality care and our passion for serving northeast Louisiana communities. It reflects what we can accomplish together, always prioritizing the health and well-being of our patients and neighbors.”

“Ochsner LSU Health - Monroe Medical Center deserves recognition for its unwavering focus on protecting patients and delivering safe care, earning an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade for three consecutive cycles,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “Sustaining this level of excellence over time shows a true, organization-wide commitment to making patient safety a top priority every single day.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.

Ochsner LSU Health – Monroe Medical Center is a 233-bed hospital with the area’s only 24-hour emergency department fully staffed with board-certified emergency medicine physicians. In 2023, the Louisiana Emergency Response Network (LERN) designated Monroe Medical Center as northeast Louisiana’s first Level III Trauma Center. The hospital has received numerous accolades and certifications in recent years for its top-quality care, including the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® - Stroke Gold Plus quality achievement award, certification by The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® and the American Stroke Association’s Heart-Check mark to become a Primary Stroke Center and Birth Ready+ designation from the Louisiana Department of Health.
