Ochsner LSU Health to Host Pinwheels of Possibilities Child Abuse Awareness Event

SHREVEPORT, La. – Ochsner LSU Health will host the Pinwheels of Possibilities Child Abuse Awareness Event on Tuesday, April 28, at Ochsner LSU Health - St. Mary Medical Center, 911 Margaret Place. Community members are invited to participate in the event, which offers opportunities to learn and engage in creating safer environments for children. Both a lunch session and a dinner session will be available, ensuring opportunity for individuals with varying schedules.

Pamela McPherson, MD, a psychiatrist with Ochsner LSU Health, will serve as keynote speaker for the event. Dr. McPherson will share expert insights on the lasting impact of early childhood experiences and discuss effective strategies for building safer, healthier communities for children.

When: Tuesday, April 28
Lunch Session: 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., Community Center
Dinner Session: 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m., Auditorium
Where: St. Mary Medical Center, 911 Margaret Place

Complimentary meals will be provided at both sessions.

The evening session will feature the Brain Architect Game, an interactive activity that demonstrates how early childhood experiences shape brain development. This engaging exercise is designed to make complex concepts accessible and empower community members with practical knowledge to foster healthier futures for children.
