Ochsner LSU Health Expands Sports Medicine Support Across DeSoto Parish

SHREVEPORT, La. –  Ochsner LSU Health announced a new athletic training partnership with DeSoto Parish Schools, expanding access to expert sports medicine care for student athletes across the parish. The agreement brings comprehensive athletic training services to all four DeSoto Parish high schools and connects young athletes to comprehensive healthcare services.

Through the partnership, Ochsner LSU Health provides athletic training services for all sports at North DeSoto High School, Logansport High School, Mansfield High School and Stanley High School. This coverage supports student athletes from practice through game day, helping them stay healthy, prevent injuries and recover with confidence.

On Friday nights, Ochsner LSU Health physicians will provide sideline coverage at football games, giving athletes, coaches and families immediate access to expert care when it matters most.

When an athlete needs care beyond the field, Ochsner LSU Health makes it easy to be seen quickly. Student-athletes have access to Ochsner LSU Health clinics with same-day or next-day appointments, so injuries and concerns are addressed without delay. For weekend and after-hours needs, families can turn to Ochsner LSU Health - Urgent Care for Kids on the campus of Ochsner LSU Health – St. Mary Medical Center.

"Our student athletes deserve the same expert care that our region is known for, and this partnership delivers exactly that," said Lance Champagne, Athletic Training Outreach Program supervisor, Ochsner LSU Health. "By putting dedicated athletic trainers on the sidelines and physicians within reach, we are helping young athletes across DeSoto Parish compete safely and get back to doing what they love."

"Building on our history of supporting student athletics, we are excited to start this new chapter with Ochsner LSU Health," said Desoto Parish Schools Superintendent Clay Corley. "This partnership helps us grow our program by giving our athletes access to a wider range of professional trainers and modern recovery resources. We are dedicated to ensuring our students receive the high-quality, specialized care they deserve, both on and off the field."

The partnership reflects Ochsner LSU Health's ongoing commitment to the communities it serves across North Louisiana. By bringing sports medicine expertise directly into DeSoto Parish schools, the health system is expanding access to care and supporting the health and well-being of local families.
