Classes & Events

Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport offers programs, classes, and support groups to enhance the lives of parents and children. Our Prenatal, Infant, and Child classes are designed to guide and support you through pregnancy, childbirth, and the first few moments of your growing family. Our Pre-Teen, Teen and Parent Classes offer lessons on key topics of puberty, body changes, and communication for parents and their children through adolescence. Prenatal Education Classes

Our childbirth preparation classes guide the expectant mother and support person through their birth experience. From prenatal hospital tours to childbirth and breastfeeding classes, our certified instructors help build confidence and knowledge through education and hands-on training. Whether you are expecting your first child or busy raising your family, our prenatal and parenting classes will help you prepare for each stage of parenting. Learn more about these classes.

EmPOWERing Growing Girls

This two-part educational seminar is designed to prepare preteen girls (Part I ages 9-12, Part II ages 13-17) for the physical and emotional changes of adolescence. Experienced providers in obstetrics and gynecology will openly talk through the discussion with the class and their confidants. Learn more about the classes.

Kids in the Kitchen

Kids in the Kitchen is a class designed to teach students to prepare healthy meals and feel more confident in the kitchen. Our goal is for students to learn tangible skills to make healthy eating a habit. We aim to empower students to make healthy nutrition choices and to equip them with the skills to prepare their own healthy and homemade meals. Learn more about the program.

The Ultimate Babysitting Class

In this class, participants will learn important tips to be the very best babysitter in their neighborhood! Personal safety tips to CPR and diaper changing - we've got all the info you'll need to know in this course. Learn more about the program.

FAN Club

In this class, children ages 10-17 will learn healthy habits to manage weight, decrease medications, precent diseases and improve overall health. Learn more about the program.

Run 4 Everyone

Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport is proud to host the Fourth annual “Run 4 Everyone” 5K and Kids Fun Run on Saturday, September 21, at the St. Mary Medical Center campus at 911 Margaret Place. Learn more here.

Back to School Bash 2024

Join us for our Back to School Bash at our St. Mary Medical Center on Saturday, July 20 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. This event includes a free backpack and school supply giveaway, while supplies last. A child must be present to receive a backpack (1 per school-aged child). Drinks will be provided by Raising Canes. Resources available during the event include child safety seat checks.
